Inspirational Blues Superfan Gets Her Own Stanley Cup Ring

Laila Anderson's reaction should make it a lot easier for Bruins fans to put last season's loss behind them ahead of Thursday's opener.

Hockey season begins Thursday night when the Bruins visit Dallas in their 2019 NHL opener. For many, the sight of the spoked Bs on the ice could drudge up painful memories of their Game 7 home loss in the Stanley Cup Final in June. But this could help make the runner-up finish a bit more bearable.

Laila Anderson, a young St. Louis Blues superfan who inspired fans everywhere during the team's improbably Cup run, is delivering smiles and tears again. The 11-year-old received a championship ring from the Blues recently — and the team rings have her name on them.

Anderson has a rare, life-threatening immune disease called HLH and received a bone marrow transplant in January. She received medical permission to go to Boston for Game 7, and celebrated with the team on the ice, planting a kiss on the Stanley Cup itself.
