Jackpot: Ballot Question On Second Slots Parlor Gets Green Light
If voters approve in November, it would make way for more gambling options, potentially near the Suffolk Downs horse-racing track.
Boston, MA - A unanimous Supreme Judicial Court ruling Tuesday green lights a November ballot question that determines whether the state could license a second slots parlor.
Behind the ballot petition push is Eugene McCain, reported by The Boston Globe as trying to acquire property near the Suffolk Downs horse race track for a luxury hotel and gambling facility near Revere and East Boston.
It should be noted that the court's ruling affirms only that the ballot question is proper. It does not weigh in on the issue or its merits.

As the Globe reports, "The ballot question, if approved by voters, would add a second slots casino license to the mix of three casinos and one slots parlor allowed by the 2011 law legalizing gambling in Massachusetts. The proposal specifies that the second slot casino shall be within 1,500 feet of a racetrack."
