Latest Town-By-Town Coronavirus Case Counts For Massachusetts

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health updated town-by-town data on the new coronavirus Wednesday.

For the first time, the department included town-by-town testing data, including the total number of persons testing, the testing rate, and the positive test rate in addition to the case and infection rate for each of the state's 351 municipalities.

The data, which is updated weekly, includes confirmed coronavirus for all 351 Massachusetts towns and cities, except for communities with populations under 50,000 and fewer than five cases. The department said the stipulation was designed to protect the privacy of patients in those towns and cities.

The statewide infection rate is 1,352.42 confirmed cases per 100,000 residents. The map does not include 302 of the state's 94,220 cases because state health officials could not determine which town the patient lived in.

Statewide, there were 527 new confirmed COVID-19 cases reported Wednesday, as well as 74 reported deaths. Since the first reported death on March 20, there have been 6,547 coronavirus-related deaths in Massachusetts.

The state conducted 6,663 tests Wednesday, bringing the total number of completed tests to 552,144.
