Lyft Ride Wasn't Abduction, But Misunderstanding, Police Say

A woman who told police she was kidnapped actually got into the wrong Lyft vehicle, according to police.

An Allston woman's harrowing trip that she told police was a kidnapping was not an abduction, but rather a misunderstanding, according to authorities.

Boston police said a dead cellphone and language barrier contributed to the incident, which stemmed from the woman getting into the wrong car.

The woman, who is in her 20s, said the driver took her 30 minutes north from Faneuil Hall. The woman escaped the car at a gas station and got back to Allston with the help of someone driving by.
