MA Coronavirus Hospitalizations At Lowest Point Since Big Change
Two of the much-watched health metrics showed progress in Friday's coronavirus report.

MASSACHUSETTS — The state on Friday reported one of its most prolific coronavirus testing days, resulting in one of its lowest positive rates yet as hospitalizations hit their lowest point since health officials made a major change in how they count them.
Still, 150 more coronavirus-related deaths were reported, raising the death toll to 4,702.
The Department of Public Health said 14,391 tests were performed, the third-highest number yet over a 24-hour span. There were 1,612 confirmed cases.

The positive test rate of 11 percent is the second-lowest yet and continues the encouraging downward trend of one of the important health metrics officials are watching. The percentage has been lower than 15 percent for five out of the last six days (Wednesday's number was at 28 percent.).
There are now 3,349 hospitalizations related to COVID-19, the lowest number since the state started counting suspected cases among the total.
