MA Coronavirus: Record-High Cases — Again — As Testing Skyrockets
The death total has risen past 2,500 and number of cases past 50,000, the Department of Public Health said.

There were nearly 200 more deaths related to the new coronavirus in Massachusetts, state health officials revealed in their daily update. The Department of Public Health said the death total is now at 2,556 after 196 people died from complications related to COVID-19.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has passed 50,000 after 4,946 new cases were announced, a new daily high for the second consecutive day and nearly 2,000 more than the previous report.
The number of confirmed continues to skyrocket with increased testing. More than 20,000 tests were performed in the 24-hour span, by far a new high for the state that once said it hoped to test 3,500 people a day.
