MA Coronavirus: Woman Becomes Second Death Related To COVID-19
The Middlesex County woman in her 50s had a preexisting condition, state health officials said Saturday night.

A Middlesex County woman in her 50s become the second person in Massachusetts to die from illness related to the new coronavirus, state health officials announced Saturday night.
The Department of Public Health said the woman had a "preexisting condition predisposing her to more severe disease."
The announcement comes two days after the state's first death related to COVID-19, an 87-year-old Winthrop man who had an underlying health condition.

The DPH said early Saturday there are 525 positive cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts, an increase of 112 from Friday. Drastic increases have been expected as testing increases; There have been more than 5,200 tests performed in Massachusetts as of Saturday.
