MA Face Covering Order Begins Wednesday
Most Massachusetts residents will need to have face coverings in certain public situations or be subject to a $300 fine.

BOSTON — Most Massachusetts residents will be required to wear face coverings in public situations where social distancing isn't possible beginning Wednesday. Gov. Charlie Baker announced the executive order Friday.
Residents over the age of 2 must wear face coverings when they can't be more than 6 feet from others in public. They must also wear them when in businesses or on public transportation. People with medical exemptions do not need to wear a face covering.
Offenders will be subject to $300 civil fines and could be denied entry to businesses.

Baker said people should not use medical-grade masks, but rather cloth coverings. Such coverings can range from homemade masks to scarves to bandanas.
Several communities had already instituted similar face covering orders.
