MA Restaurant Reopening Plan Detailed
Outdoor dining can start at the beginning of phase two, while indoor dining will have to wait.

BOSTON — Outdoor dining will reopen at the beginning of phase two, while indoor dining will take place later in the phase, state officials said.
Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito, who is heading the state's reopening advisory board, told reporters Friday afternoon that all forms of dining will come with restrictions.
Restaurant tables must be at least 6 feet apart, unless they are separated by plexiglass. There will be a maximum of six customers per table.

Customers must wear face coverings to enter, but can remove them when at their table. There will be no bar seating to start.
Restaurants are encouraged to provide contactless payment options. They also must follow federal cleaning and disinfecting guidelines.

Servers will have to wear face coverings and clean their hands in between table visits. Spices and condiments should be request-only.
Menus should be displayed, and if paper menus are given they should be single-use.

Gov. Charlie Baker said he will announce on June 6 when phase two begins. The decision will be made based on next week's public health data next. The earliest it can begin is June 8, according to the three-week minimum each phase has.
