With the reported heat wave hitting the Boston area this weekend, MA State police issue a warning to pet owners.

BOSTON, MA —A heatwave is expected to begin this weekend, and Massachusetts State Police are reminding pet owners not to leave pets in cars on hot days.

In a tweet, MA state police say that even if you have all your windows open, pets can still suffer deadly injuries.

According to a tweet from the National Weather Service, more than one hundred record high temperatures are forecasted this weekend through Thursday.

Police urge people who see pets alone in parked cars during these temperatures to call 911.

According to Massachusetts State Law, bystanders are allowed to enter a vehicle if the situation deems “reasonably necessary to prevent imminent danger or harm to the animal.”
