MA Ties, Breaks Records For Coldest March 28
Boston tied its cold weather record set in 1893, while Worcester broke its previous record with a high of just 27 degrees.
BOSTON — After a few weeks of sunshine and springlike temperatures, a polar vortex dipped down from Canada Monday, bringing a shock of wintry air to Southern New England. It's been more than a century since Boston was this cold this late in the month, according to the National Weather Service.
Boston's high temperature of 33 degrees tied the record for the lowest high temperature on record for March 28 set all the way back in 1893, the NWS said. Worcester, meanwhile, set a new record with a bone chilling high of just 27 degrees, breaking the previous record of 28 degrees set in 1966.
Massachusetts wasn't the only place to see record-low highs on Monday. Providence tied its lowest high temperature record of 34 degrees, set in 1926.
