MA Weather: Bomb Cyclone Or Bust? New Details For Weekend Storm
Forecasters said two storms could merge, strengthening fast enough to qualify as a bomb cyclone. Or nothing could happen at all.

There is still uncertainty about how hard a potential nor'easter is going to smack New England this weekend, if at all. It depends on whether a separate storm making its way along the Canadian-U.S. border joins up with it, forecasters said.
If the storm strengthens quickly enough, it could be classified as a bomb cyclone, according to AccuWeather.
There are still multiple tracks the Groundhog Day/Super Bowl weekend storm could follow, and one of those is "swinging wide right" and missing the coast altogether. But another option would be "a disruptive storm" that may feature more snow and less rain than initially expected.

"A strengthening storm is more likely to make its own cold air by cooling the atmosphere with intense precipitation," AccuWeather meteorologist Dave Dombek said.
Whether rain or snow, the storm could have heavy precipitation and strong wind gusts. Flight delays and low visibility are possibilities even if the worst-case scenario isn't realized.

But if the two storms don't merge, then storm and travel concerns will be "moot," AccuWeather said. The National Weather Service, which earlier this week warned of a potential weekend storm, currently does not have a storm in its forecast.
