MA Weather: First Storm, Snow Of 2020 In Forecast
The mild weather to start the year is giving way to rain and snow this weekend across Massachusetts, including during the Patriots game.

The first storm of the new year is expected to bring rain and snow to Massachusetts this weekend. The beginning of the storm is likely to bring on-and-off rain showers Friday and Saturday, with the first snow of 2020 expected overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.
There is no word on how much snow expected or the exact timing of the changeover, but it might not happen until after the Patriots playoff game against Tennessee, which kicks off at 8:15 p.m. at Gillette Stadium. The game should looks like it will at least be played in consistent rain. Patch will continue to update with the latest forecast.
"Those with plans in ... Boston ... from Friday to Saturday should be prepared for wet weather," AccuWeather senior meteorologist Brett Anderson said. "It is the second part of the storm that is likely to trend colder and allow a transition to snow or a rain and snow mix from west to east."

Last year ended on an icy note, with an ice storm pelting much of New England in the days and hours leading up to New Year's Eve. This storm won't be a repeat of that type of mess.
