MA Weather: Light Snow To Hit During Evening Commute

A special weather statement has been issued in advance of up to a few inches of snow this afternoon into the evening.

Commuters will see some snow on their way home, not enough for another storm but enough to potentially put the squeeze on their ride back.

Light snow will fall primarily north of the Pike late Friday afternoon into the early evening. Only a coasting of snow is expected across most of the area, with localized amounts of about 2-3 inches farther north. Though it's not much, the National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for the northern half of Massachusetts in anticipation of slippery roads during a busy time.

"While snow amounts Friday afternoon and early evening will be light, this does look to coincide with the late day Friday commute," the NWS said. "Therefore, motorists planning travel across northern Massachusetts Friday afternoon and early evening should be prepared for slippery travel especially in the higher terrain."
