MA Weather: Snow Timing, Totals Released For Thursday

Thursday morning's commute is expected to be a messy one, with some accumulating snow.

This week is expected to see a couple inches of snow despite warmer temperatures. The National Weather Service said it "does not look like a big storm," but the Thursday morning commute could be a messy one.

"A wintry mix will overspread the region in time for the Thursday morning rush hour," the NWS said.

The most snowfall — just 2-3 inches — is expected well north of the Mass Pike. The Boston and Worcester areas are looking at 1-2 inches, and just a dusting in Southeastern Mass. and the Cape.

The precipitation will start early Thursday morning, coming in from the west. Eastern Mass. is expected to being getting wet around 5 a.m., just in time for the morning and school commute.

If there are any school delays or closings, Patch will have them as soon as they are announced.

Wednesday Night - Snow likely, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday - Snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 11am, then rain and sleet between 11am and noon, then rain after noon. High near 39. East wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday Night - Rain. Low around 37. Light and variable wind becoming northwest around 6 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Friday - Rain, mainly before 9am. High near 45. Northeast wind 7 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
