MA Weather: Thunderstorms, Small Hail Moving Through State

Heavy winds will accompany the stormy weather that is expected to roll across the state through Tuesday.

A sunny Tuesday will be interrupted with thunderstorms, gusty winds and potentially some small hail.

The turn for turbulent weather will begin in the afternoon. Wind gusts will get up to 50 miles per hour, resulting in some storm damage and power outages. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for much of Central and Eastern Massachusetts from 2-7 p.m.

Forecasters are also warning of thunderstorms, which could bring with them small hail. The storms are expected to show up during the afternoon and last through the early evening. See the simulated radar below from the National Weather Service.

Today - A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 3pm and 4pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. High near 54. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight - Showers before 7pm. Low around 32. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Wednesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. West wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Wednesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 32. West wind 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Thursday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 53. West wind around 7 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Thursday Night - Showers likely, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Friday - Showers likely, mainly before 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Northeast wind 6 to 8 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
