Massachusetts State Police Trainee Accidentally Shoots Himself
State police say the trainee was "alert and conscious" after the accident before he was taken to the hospital.

NEW BRAINTREE, MA — On Wednesday morning, a Massachusetts State Police trainee accidentally shot himself in the leg during a training exercise, Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio said.
The man suffered what police called a "non-life-threatening injury" after he accidentally discharged his gun at the Massachusetts State Police Academy in New Braintree, Procopio added.
State police say he was conscious and alert before he was taken to the hospital after being treated by medical staff at the academy.

The name of the trainee has not yet been released.
The accident is being investigated by the state police Division of Standards and Training, police said.
