Massachusetts Tax Filing Deadline Extended
The April 15 deadline was pushed back three months.
Massachusetts is extending its tax filing deadline from April 15 to July 15, officials announced Friday. The news comes days after the federal filing deadline was moved to the same date.
The moves are to give taxpayers some measure of relief amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
The state had been criticized by some for delaying the extension. By pushing tax collections back three months, the state could be in even more of a financial bind than it already finds itself in due to an unprecedented business shutdown.
