BOSTON — A determined Mayor Marty Walsh slammed President Trump's immigration restrictions as "foolish policy" and acknowledged tourism may not come back to Boston maybe more than a year.
Walsh, speaking at a Wednesday afternoon press conference, continued to offer blunt assessments of where his city is in the fight against the coronavirus crisis.
"We are not at our peak yet and the surge is going to continue," Walsh said. "If we get complacent we will see these numbers spike."

Confirmed COVID-19 cases have passed 6,000 in Boston, including nearly 200 deaths.
Walsh predicted a "slow ramp-up" of the economy, saying reopening the state is a top priority and will require much more testing.

Walsh also slammed Trump's recent restrictions on immigration, calling the measures nothing more than distractions from the pandemic.
"This will do nothing to protect people from the coronavirus," Walsh said. "It certainly will do nothing to protect our economy. It's a foolish policy only to distract people from the real issue at hand."
