MBTA Releases Fourth of July Schedule

Check before you ride.

Heads up - the Mass. Bay Transit Authority will operate over the Fourth of July, but its service schedules will be tweaked for the holiday and a few special rules will be in effect.

Due to predicted traffic congestion and limited parking Monday, MBTA officials are urging customers to take public transportation, but be aware of schedule changes.

The T reminds customers that bikes aren't allowed on subway lines on the Fourth of July. Bicycles are also banned on inbound Commuter Rail trains from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and prohibited on outbound trains after 4 p.m. on the Fourth.

Starting at 2 p.m., subway service on all lines will operate at rush-hour levels to accommodate increased holiday ridership. Fares will not be collected after 9:30 p.m.

Please note that some lines will operate on Saturday or Sunday schedules for the day. See all of the updated schedules here.
