BOSTON — After last year's online New Year's Eve celebrations, Massachusetts residents can safely return to Boston if they want to participate in First Night festivities.

On Tuesday, organizers for the event emphasized the importance of following COVID-19 protocols set by the city and state, saying this year's events will all mostly take place outside at Boston Common and Copley Square.

Ice sculptures, fireworks, dance performances, and the People's Procession are back for the free family friendly event.
