Northeast Heat Wave To Break As Rain Moves In

Apparent temperatures hit 110 degrees or higher in parts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire.

It's almost over. A heat wave that saw apparent temperatures of 110 degrees and higher across the Northeast will end Sunday. Temperatures this afternoon will hit 99 degrees in most areas and the heat index will likely top 105, according to the National Weather Service. The good news? A nice 10-15 mph breeze will hold steady all day.

Rain will cool things down Monday, when the high will reach about 80. The rain will be heaviest Monday night and Tuesday, when things will cool down to 73.

  • Monday: Afternoon rain, intensifying at night. High 81, low 68.
  • Tuesday: Morning showers, clearing at night. High 73, low 64.
  • Wednesday: Partly sunny. High 78, low 65.
  • Thursday: Sunny. High 81, low 66.
  • Friday: Sunny. High 83, low 68.
