Susan Church, an immigration attorney, said Congressman Joe Kennedy called and spoke to CBP, which didn't give him any information. Kennedy retweeted it and followed with this:
Turning away those who make this nation a better place is no way to govern. This president treats every immigrant as a terrorist—that’s not what this nation was founded upon. Let him stay. https://t.co/zCuZMa7P8H

Church said a judge issued Hossein's deportation stayed for 48 hours. "#victory!" Church tweeted. Supporters who showed up at Logan celebrated at the news:

He was scheduled to appear in federal court in Boston at 10 a.m. Tuesday for a decision on his status.
Despite the emergency stay, Church said Tuesday morning that Hossein was deported late Monday night. She said a judge ordered the stay at 9:27 p.m., but Sen. Ed Markey's office said Hossein was removed from the country at 10:03 p.m. The CBP told attorneys he was removed from the plane about 20-30 minutes before that, according to Church. "THEY LIED," she tweeted.
Hossein's court case is still on in Boston.
The case quickly grabbed local and national headlines. Sen. Elizabeth Warren tweeted about the story, saying "we must fight the Trump administration's xenophobic policies."
Northeastern said it was aware of the situation and had tried to get more information from federal authorities. It's unclear how successful the university was in its efforts.
