'Old Military Mortar' Causes Boston Firehouse Evacuation
The Boston Police bomb squad was called in.
A Boston firehouse in Allston was evacuated as a precaution Tuesday, after a citizen drove up with what turned out to be a defunct explosive device in tow.
According to the Boston Fire Department, the driver arrived at the Engine 41-Ladder 14 firehouse around 11 a.m. Tuesday "with what appeared to be an old military mortar" in the back seat of the car.
Upon identifying the potential explosive, the fire captain on site ordered an evacuation and called in the Boston Police bomb squad.

Police determined the device was inert, and the scene was cleared a half-hour later, according the Fire Department. You can see photos of the mortar above, courtesy BFD via Twitter.
To answer a question, we would recommend to never move or touch any device one feels may be explosive. Secure and clear area

Call the police right away. Then it's stay away from it and let the Police EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Team handle
