
BOSTON, MA - Boston Fire is confirming that one woman is dead as a result of an early morning fire on Canton Street in the South End on Saturday.
The fire was on the third floor of a five-story, 20 unit apartment building at 109 Canton Street.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to fire officials. Two other people were transported to the hospital to "get checked out," Boston Fire said.

Damage was estimated at $100,000 and there is a joint investigation with the Boston police and fire departments and the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.
