Orlando Shooter Called Boston Marathon Bombers 'Homeboys,' But Had No Known Connection: FBI

Florida gunman Omar Mateen referred to Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev as his "homeboys" before murdering 50 at an Orlando gay club.

Boston, MA - The shooter who wreaked havoc in an Orlando nightclub Sunday invoked the Boston Marathon bombers in a 9-1-1 call before his rampage, the FBI confirmed Monday.

Not only did he name-drop the Tsarnaev brothers, who killed three and injured more than 200 in 2013, Orlando gunman Omar Mateen, 29, referred to them as his "homeboys," according to a Boston FBI press release.

Nonetheless, local federal officials said in the release, "At this point in time, all evidence collected to date shows no connection between Mateen and the Tsarnaev brothers."
