Partners in Education Marks 50th Anniversary With Call to Boston Community

Could be a mentor to a student? Boston Partners in Education wants you.

Boston, MA – As Boston Partners in Education prepares to blow out the candles for its 50th year, the nonprofit isn't asking for gifts – it's asking for volunteer mentors.

Partners is marking its 5oth anniversary with a call for mentors, with the goal of serving 25 percent more students before it turns 52.

It launches the yearlong campaign Monday, with an assist from Superintendent Tommy Chang and Boston’s Chief of Education Rahn Dorsey, as well as staff at Boston Public Schools' central office, who will be among the first to volunteer in the campaign.

Each volunteer must pledge one hour each week to academically mentor students in BPS classrooms, a commitment that helps motivate students to stay in school and complete their education, Partners said.
