Patriots' James Develin, 3-Time Super Bowl Champion, Retiring
The fullback cited a neck injury that cost him most of last season in announcing his retirement from the NFL.

Patriots fullback James Develin, a three-time Super Bowl champion who made the Pro Bowl at one of the NFL's forgotten positions, announced his retirement Monday.
Develin, 31, retired in part due to a neck injury that cost him most of last season. The Patriots sorely missed his presence in the running game.
Develin, who played his college ball at Brown before bouncing around professional leagues and eventually landing in New England, retires as one of the more respected players in recent team history.

Develin retires with 12 career rushing touchdowns, but it was the touchdowns he paved the way for as a lead blocker he'll be most remembered for. Develin's impact was most felt during the Patriots' 2018 Super Bowl run, when they leaned on him to key a power run game down the stretch.
