South End Armed Suspect In Custody: Police

A suspect is in custody after a more than 7-hour-long armed standoff with police near Rotch Field in Boston's South End neighborhood.

BOSTON — A suspect is in custody after an almost eight-hour standoff with police on Albany Street in Boston's South End Tuesday morning.

SWAT Team members were called in to assist police near Rotch Field, after receiving reports of an armed person with unknown intent around 10:30 a.m.

Police are still urging everyone to avoid Albany Street and East Berkeley Street for traffic delays.

A large crime scene was established, with police taping up certain streets and blocking off others with their cruisers.

Everyone was told to avoid the areas of East Berkeley and Albany Streets while police worked to investigate the situation.

Emerson College issued a campus alert informing students of the incident.

Albany Street at Paul Sullivan had been shut down entirely for more than seven and a half hours.
