Popular Outdoor Retailer To Close Boston Store: Report
The location is the company's only store in the city.
BOSTON, MA — A popular outdoor equipment store, REI Co-op, has confirmed that it plans to close its only Boston location next year, according to Boston Business Journal.
The location, which is REI's only store in Boston, is located at 401 Park Dr. in Fenway. BBJ reported that the chain is facing declining sales.
“We must adapt to position the co-op for long-term success," a spokesperson for the company said in a statement obtained by BBJ. REI will also close its only store in NYC, in the SoHo neighborhood, and another store in Paramus, NJ, according to the report.

Despite the Boston closure, the co-op has other stores nearby, in Hingham, Framingham and Reading.
