Possible Charles River Drowning Near Mass. Ave. Bridge

A state police investigation is ongoing.

Boston, MA - An investigation is underway after a man landed in the Charles River -- potentially drowning Tuesday evening.

Massachusetts State Police responded to reports that the man entered the water from a dock near the Mass. Ave. Bridge. The State Police Marine Unite and Boston Fire Department Divers pulled him from the water at about 5:20 p.m., according to a State Police press release.

He was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in grave condition, State Police said. His name has not been released.

State police are investigating how the man entered the water, as troopers interview a man who was with the victim, and other witnesses.

Police have not yet reported whether or not he survived as of 9:45 p.m., but said in a press release they are not releasing additional information at this time.
