Record Voting Turnout In Democratic Primary
The Secretary of State's office said the number of votes eclipsed the 2008 record.

A record number of voters turned out for the Democratic presidential primary, the Secretary of State's office announced Monday afternoon.
The Democratic primary saw 1,417,498 ballots cast for Super Tuesday, eclipsing the 2008 record of 1,352,157. The record number of voters pushed former Vice President Joe Biden to a win over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
Overall, 1,700,087 voters hit the polls, representing 37.11 percent of eligible voters in Massachusetts.

The Republican primary — in which President Trump was facing a token challenge from former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld — saw only 276,811 ballots cast.
The Libertarian primary saw 4,158 ballots cast and the Green-Rainbow primary saw 1,620.
