Red Line Train Derails Near Broadway Station - Expect Delays

Shuttle bus service will replace Red Line service between JFK/UMass and Park Street Stations.

BOSTON — A Red Line train went off the rails near the Broadway Train Station Tuesday morning.

Commuters are being told to expect major delays as shuttle buses make their way to the stations for replacement.

Shuttle bus service will replace the Red Line trains between JFK/UMass and Park Street stations.

At 9:45 a.m., a southbound Red Line train derailed at a slow rate of speed at Broadway Station, making contact with the edge of the platform, says the MBTA.

The second car of the six-car train derailed, and 47 passengers were able to safely exit the train with no injuries, says MBTA spokesperson Joe Pestaruo.

The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation.
