Renowned Veteran TV Anchor To Leave MA Station
A mainstay of TV news is leaving and another anchor has earned a promotion at the Massachusetts station.
BOSTON, MA — Veteran anchor Kim Khazei is leaving WHDH 7News at the end of the year. Khazei has been with the station for 25 years and was one of its original members.
She will be replaced by Jadiann Thompson, who currently anchors several weekday newscasts.
Khazei "has spent countless hours on the anchor desk covering the most significant local, national, and international stories," according to WHDH. Along with co-anchor Adam Williams, Khazei anchors broadcasts at 5, 6, 10, and 11 p.m. on WHDH and 7 NEWS at 10 p.m. on WLVI (CW).

“There hasn’t been a major story in the last 20 years that Kim hasn’t shared with our viewers,” Linda Miele, WHDH/WLVI news director, said.
Khazei reported on numerous major stories traveling to cover everything from the presidential primaries in New Hampshire to the selection of Pope Francis to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth.

Khazei's first born just had her first child and she is relocating to be closer to her growing family, according to WHDH.
Taking her place will be Thompson, who currently anchors broadcasts at 4, 5:30, 6:30, and 9 p.m.
In an Instagram post, Thompson wrote: "I’m celebrating a dream come true! Today I was named the new Main Anchor of @7news! I’ll take over Jan 1st, 2026, with the very talented Adam Williams to anchor the 5, 6, 10 & 11 p.m. news Monday - Friday!"
Thompson has been with the station since June 2015. Before joining 7News, she was the 6 p.m. weekday anchor for the NBC affiliate in Kansas City, KSHB TV, according to her bio.
