Shaw's, Whole Foods, More: New Year’s Grocery Store Hours In MA

How could you? You forgot to buy the olives for the New Year’s Eve antipasto tray or — horrors! — the martini bar. You have chips but no dip. Or maybe the crowd is gathering for the New Year’s Day bowl games and demanding hot wings. No worries: Several grocery stores, including Hannaford, Shaw's/Star Market, Trader Joe's and Target in Massachusetts are open on Dec. 31, 2018, and Jan. 1, 2019.

Some local stores may observe special holiday hours on New Year’s Eve 2018 and New Year’s Day 2019. Be sure to call ahead to make sure the doors aren’t locked when you arrive to pick up your party goodies.

Here’s what we know:

BJ’s Wholesale Club: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., New Year’s Eve; 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

Costco: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve; closed on New Year’s Day.

The Fresh Market: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve; 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. New Year’s Day.

Hannaford: Most stores open regular hours, 6 a.m. – 11 p.m., on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Shaw’s / Star Market: Most stores observe regular hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, but call ahead to your store.

Target: 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve; open regular hours on New Year’s Day. Check local stores for more details.

Trader Joe’s: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve; closed on New Year’s Day.

Walmart: Super Centers will be open all night New Year’s Eve and Walmart stores will close at regular hours; all stores open normal hours on New Year’s Day.

Wegmans: Stores close at 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and reopen for regular hours at 7 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

Whole Foods: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., New Year’s Eve; 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., New Year’s Day.
