BOSTON — A sick passenger who prompted a response from health officials when a plane from China landed at Logan Airport Wednesday morning is not believed to have the new coronavirus.

The Massachusetts Port Authority confirmed the flight from Beijing landed at Terminal E.

The passenger was evaluated but not taken to the hospital, reportedly having not met the criteria for coronavirus. WBZ reported the passenger was being quarantined until officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention arrived.

Screening passengers for the new coronavirus was set to start soon at Logan. Passengers on one flight from Hong Kong were screened last week, but no one had any symptoms, health officials said.

The coronavirus is believed to have originated in Wuhan, China. There are five confirmed cases in the U.S. and hundreds more around the Globe. No cases have been confirmed in New England, though two people in New Hampshire had symptoms, health officials said.
