Snow Expected, Winter Weather Advisory Issued In Eastern MA: NWS

A winter weather advisory has been issued as a storm will dump snowfall and cause hazardous travel conditions throughout the state.

BOSTON, MA — A winter weather advisory will be in effect in eastern Massachusetts Monday from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The region could see up to 6 inches of snow.

The forecast calls for the heaviest snowfall coming Monday night, resulting in difficult travel conditions. Wind gusts of up to 35 mph are also expected.

"The snow should develop between 10 p.m. (Monday) and 2 a.m. Tuesday," according to The National Weather Service. "Snow continues on Tuesday impacting the morning commute. Snow will diminish in intensity Tuesday afternoon and may even mix with or change to rain near the coast. In addition...temps rising above freezing will likely limit the impact for the Tuesday afternoon commute."

Three to four inches of snow is forecast for the Boston area. The low Monday night will be 29. Snow will continue into Tuesday with another inch of accumulation possible and a high of 37.

There's a 30 percent chance of mixed precipitation Tuesday night. Temperatures will warm up into the low 40s on Wednesday with a slight chance of rain in the afternoon.

The central and western parts of the state are under a winter weather warning. The highest snowfall totals will be in Connecticut and the Berkshire Mountains.
