BOSTON (CBS) — Pumpkins are buried. Streets are white. Trees are sagging. Kids are sledding! And Friday's snowstorm smashed October snowfall records for Boston by dumping 3.5 inches at Logan International Airport.

In addition to more than tripling the previous snowfall record for Boston, the 193 days between Friday's storm and the last storm of 2019-20 broke the record for shortest time between snow seasons in Boston.

The good news? If you go back and look at the other three times that Boston has recorded snow in October, they were all followed by below-average snowfall seasons. That includes the most recent, 2011 "Snow-tober" event, after which Boston received just 9.3” of snow for that entire winter.
