SOUTH BOSTON — Boston police are investigating after they say a student tried to enter Excel High School with a gun in his bag Friday morning.
School officials say they found a firearm in a student's backpack when he attempted to enter the school during morning bag checks just before 8 a.m.
The school then went into "safe mode," and lasted about ten minutes. The school then identified the student but said he left the building and bag behind before driving away from the campus.
