Police Identify Man Murdered on Mass Ave.
Police arrested a suspect after receiving reports of two men fighting, who witnesses told police appeared to be homeless.

BOSTON, MA — A fight between two apparently homeless men led to one man's death and the other's arrest this weekend, the Boston Police Department said.
According to police, officers were called to the 1000 block of Massachusetts Avenue early Saturday evening in response to a reported fight, which witnesses believed involved two homeless men.
Upon arrival, police report they found a man suffering from life-threating wounds. He later died at Boston Medical Center.

Police have since identified the victim as Stephen Cherup, 50, of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
After a search of the area, Boston Police said, officers found and arrested 53-year-old Peter McGowan, believed to be the second man involved in the reported fight.

McGowan has been charged with murder.
Police continue to investigate the matter, and are asking members of the public to come forward with any additional information.
