Two Brothers Convicted in 2014 Murder of Christopher Borgella

South End Boston Brothers Harold and Shawn Coleman were convicted of second-degree murder in Suffolk Superior Court Monday.

Boston, MA — Two brothers were convicted of murder Monday in connection with the 2014 death of Christopher Borgella, 23, outside a Dorchester hotel.

South End Boston Brothers Harold and Shawn Coleman, age 28 and 24, were convicted in Suffolk Superior Court of second-degree murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The men face mandatory life terms.

According to a press release from the Suffolk Count District Attorney's office, prosecutors demonstrated that both defendants and the victim were at a party outside the DoubleTree Hotel on Mount Vernon Street in Dorchester on February 28, 2014.

Hotel staff asked defendants to leave the hotel room several times asking the party to leave, the press release said. The party moved outside, and a two different groups started fighting in the parking lot, where prosecutors said the Coleman brothers attacked Borgella, who suffered fatal stab wound in the attack. The Coleman brothers suffered non-fatal injuries, beaten and stabbed by Borgella, according to prosecutors.

Judge Linda Giles will sentence the brothers on May 24.
