Weekend Arrests for Alleged Carjacking, Robbery at Knifepoint: Boston Police

ICYMI over the weekend.

BOSTON, MA—Boston Police arrested four in Dorchester over the weekend, two men for a reported carjacking and two teens accused of robbing a victim at knife-point.

The first incident, Saturday afternoon, happened outside a Sydney Street home, where two teenage boys allegedly pulled a knife as their victim entered a parked car. The teens demanded the victim's cell phone and well, and that he empty his glove box and center console, the victim told police.

A description of the suspects broadcast over public radio later matched two people near Crescent Avenue, according to Boston Police. The two "took off running in opposite directions," as officers approached, police said. With help from bystanders and after a brief chase, both were apprehended and identified as the perpetrators, police said.

The two Dorchester teens, age 15 and 16, were charged with Delinquent to wit; Armed Robbery and Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle. The victim’s stolen property was found in the pocket of the 15-year-old, therefore, he was additionally charged with Delinquent to wit; Receiving/Concealing Stolen Property, police said.

Early Sunday morning, police arrested two Dorchester men, 25-year-old Cody Brown and 20-year-old Raquawn Givens, in connection with an alleged carjacking and robbery.

While in pursuit of a scooter driving without lights on, police saw two men running through Trotter Park around 1 a.m., and stopped them for trespassing. A pat-and-frisk recovered a black Bowie from from Brown, according to police.

The scooter driver then circled back, police said, and identified the two men as having stolen his car that same night (hence, the scooter). The victim alleged the two men had dragged him out by his shirt while he slept in his SUV, then assaulted him and drove off with his vehicle.

Officers recovered the car key to the victim’s vehicle in Brown’s pants pocket, police said.

Both men were arrestested and charged with Armed Carjacking and Trespassing. Brown was charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, and Givens was additionally charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class C Drugs, after officers recovered a plastic bag containing over 20 Xanax pills from him.
