Worker Killed In Boston Construction Site Accident Identified

The father of the construction worker killed Thursday morning identified him as 38-year-old James Chaffee Jr.

BOSTON — A construction worker died at a site near the District Hall building early Thursday morning, officials said.

Emergency crews got to Northern Avenue around 5:30 a.m. after reports of a worksite incident, according to police. James Chaffee Jr. was dead when paramedics arrived.

Chaffee was killed when a large concrete slab fell off a truck, his father told WCVB. The 38-year-old Westfield native leaves behind a wife and two stepchildren.

Officials said one other worker was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration has been notified and is investigating the incident.
