Braintree Gunshot Investigation Ongoing

Ballistic evidence has been recovered, and officers identified an apparent gunshot defect in a residence on Joseph Road.

BRAINTREE, MA — Four to five gunshots were reported fired into a home in Braintree last week. Now, police are seeking public assistance.

On Nov. 25 around 8:18 p.m., Braintree Police Dispatch received several calls reporting “4 to 5 gunshots” in the Alfred and Joseph Road area. Braintree Police officers arrived on-scene quickly and located several witnesses.

There were no injuries reported or discovered and it is believed that the suspects left the area immediately after the shots were fired. At this time, no suspect descriptions have been provided.

Braintree Police Detectives responded to the scene and initiated an active investigation.

Officers conducted safety checks with residents throughout the neighborhood and Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Section assisted with the investigation.

Based on current information, investigators believe this was a targeted crime and that there is no ongoing threat to the public, officials said.

The department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the people responsible.

Residents on Common Street, Alfred Road, Joseph Road and Nicholas Road areas are urged to review any home security footage or cell phone video recorded several minutes before and after 8:18 p.m., officials said.
