Braintree Man Arrested After Fight at Norwood Sheraton

A Braintree man was arrested Saturday night for allegedly assaulting several guests at the Four Points Sheraton in Norwood.

A Braintree man was arrested Saturday night in Norwood for several counts of assault and battery after a caller reported a fight at the Four Points Sheraton hotel.

Michael Barrett, 37, of Braintree, was arrested for two counts each of assault and battery, assault and battery on a person 60 or older or disabled, assault to murder, and threat to commit a crime.

At 10:59 p.m. on Saturday, Norwood Police received a call of a fight in the hallway of the second floor at the hotel - located on Boston-Providence Highway.

"The defendant was attending a function with all the victims that were involved in this incident," police spokesman Kevin Grasso said in an email Monday. "It appears that the defendant had a disagreement with his girlfriend. When observers tried to intervene it is alleged that the defendant struck or pushed several of the victims and made threats to do serious bodily harm as well."

No injuries were reported in the incident. The relationship between the defendant and victims is not known to police at this time.
