Braintree Meetings Discuss Public Schools Redistricting

Two meetings will discuss redistricting efforts this week in Braintree. Here's how you can attend.

News release from Town of Braintree.

BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree Public Schools will hold community meetings on redistricting efforts on Tuesday, January 21st at 6PM in the East Middle School Auditorium and Wednesday, January 22nd at 6PM on a virtual platform. Representatives from AppGeo (Sanborn) will join district leaders to provide the public with background on why this work was initiated, who AppGeo (Sanborn) is as a company, the work they have done to this point, and a look at multiple scenarios that have been explored to date. The scenarios which will be presented remain conceptual, and do not represent any finished product or recommendation. An electronic form will be circulated at the end for community feedback.

There will be a final presentation to the School Committee by AppGeo (Sanborn) in February. AppGeo (Sanborn) has no decision-making ability and any decisions to either redistrict or consolidate remain the sole purview of the School Committee. The School Committee has committed to holding a Public Hearing to hear any input that stakeholders may have after hearing any recommendations from AppGeo (Sanborn) in February.
