BRAINTREE, MA - A Braintree nursing home and rehabilitation center was one of more than 400 business leaders, groups and supporters of South Shore Health that helped raised more than $470,000 for the medical center in a golf tournament this month, the health center announced earlier this week.

BaneCare, a facility that provides skilled nursing and rehabilitation services headquartered Braintree, participated in South Shore Health’s 33rd annual Golf Classic on Monday, May 23. It was held at the Plymouth Country Club and the Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth to help raise money to support South Shore Health's establishment of behavioral health and substance use disorder services.

“BaneCare is honored to support South Shore Health and the incredible work being done at the Grayken Center for Treatment," said Kevin Morris, BaneCare's president, on Friday. "Addiction touches the lives of so many of our friends, families, coworkers, patients and residents – no one is immune. We are fortunate to have this center in our community and are hopeful that with the right support, those seeking treatment can access the services they need.”

The $470,000 raised at the golf tournament was a record-breaking total, according to Frank Nelson, the event's chair.

“This event continues to grow each year and the outpouring of community support is
phenomenal,” he said. “Once again, we shattered our previous fundraising record. Thank you to all the participants and sponsors, who continue to put South Shore Health patients first.”

In addition to this event, South Shore Health previously received $10 million from John and Eilene Grayken of Cohasset. This gift allowed South Shore Health to integrate behavioral health clinicians in its ambulatory sites and establish a rapid care treatment location for people with substance use disorders. The money also helped launch a Mobile Integrated Health program where emergency department and emergency medical services staff work alongside local police and fire agencies.

“So many people are touched by substance use disorders and behavioral health challenges,
and too few receive the care they deserve,” said Allen L. Smith, MD, MS, President
and CEO of South Shore Health. “This record-breaking event emphasizes that our community
supports these patients and their families. We are grateful to all the donors who made this event a
true success.”
