Braintree's Caritas Communities Names New Chief Financial Officer

The nonprofit announced on Thursday that Michael C. Lee was named its new chief financial officer.

BRAINTREE, MA - Caritas Communities, a non-profit provider of low-income housing and services with a mission to prevent homelessness, announced on Thursay that Michael C. Lee has been named as its new chief financial officer.

Lee brings 35 years of experience in strategic management consulting, specializing in financial systems implementation and reporting, technology, and operational metrics. He has worked in a variety of capacities, including high-growth technology, internet start-ups, professional services, at a university, and in the non-profit sector.

“Michael is bringing his extensive expertise and varied experience to Caritas, which is a very complex organization encompassing 33 buildings on 28 properties in 11 separate financial entities with a myriad of financing and affordable housing restrictions,” said Executive Director Karin Cassel Mitterando. “This role is critical to the organization, and Michael is already proving to be an incredible asset.”

Lee has worked as an independent management consultant, and he has held positions with Consumerreview.com, Bronner Slosberg Humphrey (now called Digitas), and Symmetrix, Inc. He holds a bachelor of science degree from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Caritas Communities, Inc. strives to prevent homelessness by providing very low-income individuals with permanent housing, support, a sense of community, and expanded opportunities. The Braintree property is located at 15 Holbrook Ave.

Since 1985, Caritas has helped fill the need for safe, secure housing in Greater Boston . Caritas, a non-sectarian, non-profit organization, owns and manages 33 buildings in 17 greater Boston communities, providing more than 1,000 individuals with affordable housing and supportive services annually.

According to the website, the median income for Caritas Communities residents is $20,700, which means that they cannot afford market rent. The nonprofit also assists with job training and placement.
