Curtain Call Theatre Presents “Something Rotten!”

March 7-16, 2025

Curtain Call Theatre (CCT) is excited to present Something Rotten! in March 2025. Performances will take place on March 7, 8, 14, and 15 at 8:00 PM, with matinee shows on March 9 and 16 at 2:00 PM. Tickets are priced at $35 and can be purchased online at www.curtaincallbraintree.org.

Set in the Renaissance, Something Rotten! is a hilarious musical about two brothers, Nick and Nigel Bottom, who are caught in a fierce rivalry with William Shakespeare. In an attempt to one-up the famed playwright, they set out to create the world's first-ever "musical" amidst the backdrop of the Black Plague, Puritans, and Renaissance fashion. Filled with show-stopping numbers and witty humor, Something Rotten! is a celebration of everything audiences love about Broadway.

The creative team behind this production includes producer Toni Ruscio, director Christa Savery Dunn, music director Danielle Clougher Kelly, choreographer Hallie Grace Nowicki, stage manager Erin Thomas Lopatosky, production assistant Kristi Nogueira, props coordinator Mary Schichtel, costume designer Pat Brawley, costume assistant Michelle Chouinard, lighting designer David Edge, and set designer Jim Gross.

Actor Amos Byrne, who plays Nigel Bottom, shared, "I hadn't done theater for five years, and now this is the fourth show in a row I've done at Curtain Call. I'm glad that I do ultimately really like Something Rotten! as a show, because there was a point where I realized I was going to come out for it whether I liked it or not, like I never actually looked anything up about the show. I just really like this space and these people. Probably the most important thing for a community theater space to be is welcoming and comfortable, and I've never really been anywhere that's better at that."

Brit Garner, who plays the Minstrel, shared her excitement about working alongside her partner, Thain Bertin, who portrays Nick Bottom. "Thain and I were good friends for years before we started dating, and so many of our favorite memories revolve around doing community theater together. Getting to do what you love with the person you love is such a gift, and I'm so grateful to be sharing this experience with him, along with both new and familiar faces at Curtain Call. From the moment I walked into the space for my very first audition, I knew I had found a place I could call home. In life, you discover both your places and your people, and Curtain Call quickly became that for me—filled with places and faces that I love and that love me back. I’m so thankful for this random room, attached to a random bridge club in a random suburb of Boston, and wouldn’t have it any other way."

Tickets for Something Rotten! are available online at www.curtaincallbraintree.org. Curtain Call Theatre is located at 182 Commercial Street, Braintree, MA.
