HVAC Repairs at Thayer Public Library
Thayer Public Library temporarily closed from Tuesday, July 8 through Wednesday, July 9, for scheduled HVAC repairs
In conjunction with the Town of Braintree Facilities Department, Ambient Temperature Corporation will be conducting work to repair Thayer Public Library’s HVAC system. Due to the large crane and heavy construction work required, Thayer Public Library will be temporarily closed to staff and public from Tuesday, July 8 through Wednesday, July 9.
Closure dates are weather-dependent, and subject to change. All changes and updates will be announced on the library’s phone greeting and on the library’s website. Please call the library at 781-848-0405 or visit thayerpubliclibrary.org to check that the building is open before visiting.
Apart from the July 8-9 closure and Fourth of July holiday hours, the library will remain open to the public during the project as much as possible. However, as the work is getting done, air conditioning may be spotty, resulting in possible unexpected closures.

The library’s Upper Level will be closed off to staff and patrons from Monday, June 30 through Monday, July 7. This includes the Children’s Room, Logan Auditorium, and conference rooms. Limited children’s services will be available on the Main Level during this time. Children’s holds can be picked up on the Main Level.
The library parking lot will be closed off when the work is being done on Tuesday, July 8. The outdoor book drop will not be accessible. Due dates will be adjusted accordingly; items returned to Thayer Public Library that week will not incur overdue fines. For safety reasons, please do not attempt to return books while the parking lot is closed off.

In preparation for the interior work, all in-person library programs and outside bookings for use of library space from June 30 to July 11 have been rescheduled or canceled.

June 30 – July 7 Limited children’s services available in Reading Room on Main Level
Thursday, July 3 Library closes at 5 pm for Independence Day
Friday, July 4 Library closed for Independence Day
July 8 – July 9 LIBRARY BUILDING CLOSED to staff and public (including outdoor book drop)
July 10 Library reopened to staff and public
July 11 Children’s Room reopened to the public
July 14 Programs and room bookings resume
